It was a mad rush to beat the snowfall and complete all the performance surveys for Alpac this fall. Running into early November, with intermittent blasts of precipitation causing delays in flights to complete the heli-work, our regen crew out of Athabasca was able to complete the project.
The project began in late September with a crew of four heading out to Lac Le Biche for a few days. The weather was temperate but cooperative and our schedule was met with considerable time to spare.
As our crew moved North to Fort MacMurray, flights were pushed back slightly due to the gradually increasing darkness in the mornings. However, despite the 45 minute flight average to the blocks, we were able to land relatively close to each area and conduct our surveys. Nothing out of the ordinary, say for a few moose silhouettes meandering in the back drop.
Highland Helicopters was incremental in transporting us to and from the blocks and we'd like to thank them for their excellent work - we couldn't have done without you.
